We have all been there, you are moving along at warp speed on a project, ideas are flowing, motivation is at a surplus, you can’t lose. And then BAM…. a whole lot of nothing. Where did the ideas go? What happened to motivation, why are you looking at Facebook a thousand times and not being productive? A mental block can pop up out of nowhere and derails your all that momentum and progress. It can be frustrating and prevent you from achieving your goals. Here are some strategies that may help you overcome a mental block:

1. Take a break:

Sometimes, taking a break and stepping away from the task at hand can help you clear your mind and come back with a fresh perspective.

2. Change your environment:

A change of scenery can also be helpful in overcoming a mental block. Try working in a different location or taking a walk outside to clear your mind.

3. Identify the source of the block:

Sometimes, mental blocks are caused by specific fears or beliefs that we hold. Take some time to identify what might be causing your mental block and see if there are any underlying fears or limiting beliefs that you need to address. If so, seek out the help of a coach (like me) who can help walk you through the problems and get you back on track.

4. Break the task into smaller steps:

Sometimes, a mental block can be caused by feeling overwhelmed by the task at hand. Try breaking the task into smaller, more manageable steps, and focus on completing one step at a time.

5. Try a different approach:

If the approach you are using is not working, try approaching the task from a different angle. This might involve trying a different technique, seeking input from others, or brainstorming new ideas.

6. Practice mindfulness:

Mindfulness techniques, such as deep breathing or meditation, can help you quiet your mind and focus on the present moment, which can be helpful in overcoming a mental block.

Remember, everyone experiences mental blocks from time to time. You will get back on track and the ideas and motivation will flow freely again. The key is to be patient with yourself, and to keep trying different approaches until you find what works for you. Contact me for more information!
